Another early influence was Thomas Aikens, a surveyor from Nova Scotia who moved to Eagle in the 1890’s and purchased property on Eagle Island along what is now Old State Street. He worked with town planners to help develop the town and he campaigned for the county to build a bridge that linked his properties.

Throughout the years, Eagle has continued to grow and expand as a hub of commerce. The city has a prime location, an excellent transportation network, low personal and corporate tax rates, strong industry clusters and a collaborative business culture.
